Welcome back to shooting Tuesday --October 1, 2019! If you are new with OBX, this blog is where you will find out important information on what kind of costumes you should bring as a Background Actor on the show. 

Just a couple of housekeeping items to begin with......

-Please, be on time.  You will be checked in by the AD Department and fill out paperwork before we can look at you.  If you are late then the Costume Department does not get as much time to make sure you look great.  

-Always come dressed in your first, best choice of the descriptions for your character.   After reading the character descriptions that you will find here, make your best pick and wear it in.  However, you will ALWAYS be expected to bring multiple options with you so that we can make the final choices.  The final choices will be made by the Costume Dept.  Please respect that we have the overview of the day and the show, and do not complain about what we ask you to wear. Solid colors, wide stripes, plaids, and large scale prints are great! Some color is good, as long as it isn't super bright or neon. Please do not include items with narrow stripes, busy patterns, neons, glitter, sequins, expensive or special jewelry, uncomfortable shoes, and clothing with large logos & graphics/ trademarked characters (giant nike symbols, star wars tees, etc). On this particular show, simple logos are okay as long as it is mainly wording/ lettering/ phrases (not large pieces of artwork).

- It is MANDATORY that you read this blog before coming to work EVERY TIME YOU WORK.

Cargo Ship Workers:
These guys are like "Salty Dogs" that have been working on a ship all their lives.  These people are down and dirty worker types. Please bring dirty old work wear and boots.  The saddest, most worn out old sneakers, wellies, shorts, T-shirts, work shirts, dirty old tank tops, hats and sunglasses.  Cargo utility or dickies type pants. Knee pads, hard hats and work gloves are encouraged.   The more beat up, worn-out, stained, greasy and dirty the better!

Please bring black t-shirts, black socks and black tactical boots if you have them.

Islanders/Islander Teens:
Please bring beachy, casual summertime clothing

Men: please bring t-shirts, short sleeve button front shirts, polos, shorts, chinos, baseball hats flip flops, boat shoes, sneakers and sunglasses.

Women: please bring shorts, tank tops, casual summer dresses, rompers, sandal, flip flops, and boat shoes, sunglasses, casual purses and outfit appropriate jewelry.


Mainland Business People:
Business casual and business wear.  Please bring purses and briefcases if you have them.

Men: bring several options of lightweight suits, slacks, blazers, button down shirts, ties and nice polos. Dress shoes and matching belts.

Women:Skirts, slacks, blouses, work dresses, practical heels (no stilettos) or nice flats and outfit appropriate jewelry.

Deputies:

Please bring white crew neck t-shirts, socks and black tactical boots if you have them.

Kook Party Boat Goers:
You all are on a private party boat.  Preppy, Colorful and High End Types.  Boating around having drinks is the norm for these folks.
Think Sperry, Patagonia and Johnnie-O boat/beachwear for men and King St. Boutique beachwear for ladies. 
Please bring swimsuits, sandals, flip flops or boat shoes. Beach coverups, hats, sunglasses and any other accessories you feel are right for a small, private party boat.

Men: Please bring a suit or slacks and dress shirts/button-downs, belts, ties and basic dress shoes. Dark and muted colors are strongly preferred. Stick to solid colors or very subtle patterns. If you do not have a suit or dress slacks...  hit as close to this as possible.. perhaps a pair of pants and boots with a slick dark polo that we can put an SBI windbreaker with.  NO blue jeans or sneakers please.

Also, bring business casual--khakis, slacks, dress shirts, ties, belt and shoes to go with in case we decide to go in that direction.

Nurses:

Please bring long sleeve and short sleeve crew neck t-shirts options and sneakers or dankso type shoes.  No bright colored sneakers please.

Orderlies:
Please bring long sleeve and short sleeve crew neck t-shirts options and sneakers.            No bright colored sneakers please.

Deputies:

Please bring white crew neck t-shirts and black tactical boots if you have them.

EMT:

Please bring navy EMT pants, white crew neck t-shirts, socks and black tactical boots if you have them.

Patients:
Please bring casual clothing like sweats and sneakers.  Please also bring robes, slippers and socks in case we end up putting you in a hospital gown.

Kook Townspeople/Kook Teens:

These are our Outer Banks upper crust people. Think preppy casual & out for a day on the boat. Some brands that work well for the Kook characters are Vineyard Vines, Southern Tide, Ralph Lauren, Lily Pulitzer, Rainbows, & Sperrys. These are the most colorful characters on the show so please take a look at the inspiration photos below and bring items along those lines.

Men- please bring polos, button down shirts, sun shirts, bright colored swimsuits/swim trunks, khaki and bright colored shorts, baseball hats, visors, croakies, flip-flops and boat shoes. 

Women- please bring bathing suits, tanks, polos, skirts, shorts, sundresses, rompers, coverups, sandals, boat shoes, sunglasses, casual purses, and hats.

Deputies:

Please bring white crew neck t-shirts and black tactical boots if you have them.
