Welcome back to OBX SEASON 5---Shooting Monday, October 6, 2025!! If you are new with OBX, this blog is where you will find out important information on what kind of costumes you should bring as a Background Actor on the show.
Just a couple of housekeeping items to begin with......
-Please, be on time. You will be checked in by the AD Department and fill out paperwork before we can look at you. If you are late then the Costume Department does not get as much time to make sure you look great.
-Always come dressed in your first, best choice of the descriptions for your character. After reading the character descriptions that you will find here, make your best pick and wear it in. However, you will ALWAYS be expected to bring multiple options with you so that we can make the final choices. The final choices will be made by the Costume Dept. Please respect that we have the overview of the day and the show, and do not complain about what we ask you to wear. Solid colors, wide stripes, plaids, and large scale prints are great! Some color is good, as long as it isn't neon. Please do not include items with narrow stripes, neons, glitter, sequins, uncomfortable shoes, and clothing with large logos & graphics/ trademarked characters (giant Nike symbols, Star Wars tees, etc). Do not bring any graphics that reference Charleston or South Carolina. Please avoid solid bright white items. On this particular show, simple logos are okay as long as it is mainly wording/ lettering/ phrases (not large pieces of artwork).
- It is MANDATORY that you read this blog before coming to work EVERY TIME YOU WORK.

IF YOU HAVE ALREADY WORKED HURRICANE EVACUATION SCENES THIS SEASON, PLEASE BRING EXACTLY WHAT YOU WORE PREVIOUSLY.
YOU WILL BE GETTING WET - DO NOT BRING CLOTHES/SHOES THAT YOU DON'T WANT TO GET WET. IF YOU DO NOT ALREADY OWN A PAIR OF RAINBOOTS, YOU MAY WANT TO CONSIDER BUYING SOME - WE HAVE A VERY LIMITED AMOUNT OF STOCK TO DISTRIBUTE.
DEPUTIES
Please bring a white crew neck t-shirt, black crew socks and black tactical boots if you have them. The rest of your uniform will be provided for you. I suggest bringing multiple pairs of socks and a personal towel since you will be getting wet today.
EVAC BG & EVACS W/ CARS
Please bring items you would wear to evacuate during a summer storm: t-shirt, tanks, long-sleeve shirt, casual button-up shirts, track pants/joggers, legging, athleisure, rainboots/other waterproof work boots, and a raincoat or a poncho. Keep in mind that while filming your clothing will be getting wet, so feel free to also bring clothing for comfort or warmth. Please bring a personal towel, extra socks and a change of dry clothes to travel home in. Take a look at the pictures below for inspiration!
NATIONAL GUARD
Please bring black crew socks and tan tactical boots if you have them. If you have any pieces of the National Guard camouflage uniform that are your personal, please bring them. The rest of your uniform will be provided for you if we have it. PLEASE ALSO BRING A RAIN OPTION THAT FITS THE DESCRIPTION OF EVAC BG ABOVE. WHEN WE RUN OUT OF UNIFORM PIECES, ANY ONE NOT DRESSED WILL BE AN EVAC BG INSTEAD OF NATIONAL GUARD.
