8/9/2022--EXT. BOARDWALK/EXT. PELICAN TOWN HALL

    Welcome back to OBX SEASON 3---Shooting TUESDAY,  AUGUST 9TH!  If you are new with OBX, this blog is where you will find out important information on what kind of costumes you should bring as a Background Actor on the show. 

Just a couple of housekeeping items to begin with......

-Please, be on time.  You will be checked in by the AD Department and fill out paperwork before we can look at you.  If you are late then the Costume Department does not get as much time to make sure you look great.  

-Always come dressed in your first, best choice of the descriptions for your character.   After reading the character descriptions that you will find here, make your best pick and wear it in.  However, you will ALWAYS be expected to bring multiple options with you so that we can make the final choices.  The final choices will be made by the Costume Dept.  Please respect that we have the overview of the day and the show, and do not complain about what we ask you to wear. Solid colors, wide stripes, plaids, and large scale prints are great! Some color is good, as long as it isn't neon. Please do not include items with narrow stripes, neons, glitter, sequins, uncomfortable shoes, and clothing with large logos & graphics/ trademarked characters (giant nike symbols, star wars tees, etc). On this particular show, simple logos are okay as long as it is mainly wording/ lettering/ phrases (not large pieces of artwork).

- It is MANDATORY that you read this blog before coming to work EVERY TIME YOU WORK.

EXT. BOARDWALK:

SARAH'S KOOK FRIENDS:

These are our Outer Banks upper crust people. Think preppy casual & out for a day on the boat. Some brands that work well for the Kook characters are Vineyard Vines, Southern Tide, Ralph Lauren, Lily Pulitzer, Rainbows, & Sperrys. These are the most colorful characters on the show so please take a look at the inspiration photos below and bring items along those lines.

Men- polos, button down shirts, sun shirts, bright colored swimsuits/swim trunks, khaki and bright colored shorts, baseball hats, visors, croakies, flip-flops and boat shoes. 

Women- bathing suits, tanks, polos, skirts, shorts, rompers, coverups, sandals, boat shoes, sunglasses, casual purses, and hats.

TEENS:

You are kids out for a day on the Boardwalk. Keep it casual- cut off shorts and the shirt you throw on to cut the grass is just perfect. Also feel free to bring anything with personality- worn in overalls, beat up bucket hats, old fishing shirts etc. 

Men- please bring your most worn in t-shirts and tanks, faded swimsuits and shorts, old hats, sunglasses, beat up sneakers and flip flops.

Women- please bring your most worn in t-shirts and tanks, faded swimsuits, old shorts and skirts, super casual dresses, sunglasses, beat up sneakers, flips flops, sandals, and casual purses.

EXT. PELICAN TOWN HALL:

FIREMEN:

Please bring black tactical boots if you have them and socks to wear with them.

FIRE CHIEF:

Please bring a white crew neck t-shirt, black socks and black dress shoes if you have them.

DEPUTIES:

Please bring white crew neck t-shirts, socks and black tactical boots if you have them.

DIGNITARIES/CITY COUNCIL/MAYOR:

PLEASE BRING SHARP AND POLISHED BUSINESS ATTIRE.....  Men/Women: suits, dress shirts or blouses, skirt suits, ties and conservative dress shoes.  Keep the color palate very serious and simple.  Solid colors or subtle patters/prints will work.

KOOK ADULTS/KOOK TEENS:

These are our Outer Banks upper crust people. Think daytime outdoor party with all of our fictional town attending... church level of dress.  Some brands that work well for the Kook characters are Vineyard Vines, Southern Tide, Ralph Lauren, Lily Pulitzer, & Sperrys. These are the most colorful characters on the show so please take a look at the inspiration photos below and bring items along those lines.

Men- please bring polos, button down shirts, sport coats/blazers, suit separates, khaki pants, colorful chinos, dress boots, loafers, boat shoes, etc. 

Women- please bring casual day dresses with practical heels, wedges, loafers or sandals, blouses with skirts, sundresses, with coordinating purses, jewelry and accessories. 

POGUE ADULTS/POGUE TEENS:

This is an outdoor daytime party... everyone from the town Mayor to the High School Marching Band will be there.  Some people will be church level of dress but you are playing Pogues so please incorporate your own casual, hip sense of style. 

Guys: Please bring dress pants, casual pants, jeans, shorts, polos, button downs with a little style or a little worn out and older,  t-shirts and sneakers are fine also.  Dress within your own sense of style or flair.

Ladies: Please bring casual dresses or skirts, pants or jeans with fun tops and sandals or cool sneakers.  You too are encouraged to dress within your own sense of style... funky, hip, casual, etc.

SERVERS/BARTENDERS:

Please bring white dress shirts/white button down shirts, black pants, black skirts, black belts, and comfortable black shoes.

TESORO VILLAGERS/VENDORS/FISHERMEN:

Please bring lightweight, comfortable, casual clothes that are very worn in and you don’t mind getting dirty. Thrifted, mis-matched clothes are preferred. You are in a rural South America village during the summer.

 

Men: Bring different options of T-shirts, short-sleeved shirts, shorts, jeans, lightweight pants, sneakers, flip flops or casual sandals. 

Women: Bring different options of knit shirts, t-shirts, short sleeve tops, shorts, capri pants, skirts, sandals or flip flops. 

Please avoid bringing only one color option, a mix of colors and patterns would be great! NO white clothing please.

**Spanish translation:

Por favor traiga ropa ligera, cómoda, casual, que esté muy usada y que no le importe ensuciarse. Se prefieren las prendas de segunda mano que no combinan. Estás en un pueblo rural de América del Sur durante el verano.
