Welcome back to OBX SEASON 5---Shooting Wednesday, October 1, 2025!! If you are new with OBX, this blog is where you will find out important information on what kind of costumes you should bring as a Background Actor on the show.
Just a couple of housekeeping items to begin with......
-Please, be on time. You will be checked in by the AD Department and fill out paperwork before we can look at you. If you are late then the Costume Department does not get as much time to make sure you look great.
-Always come dressed in your first, best choice of the descriptions for your character. After reading the character descriptions that you will find here, make your best pick and wear it in. However, you will ALWAYS be expected to bring multiple options with you so that we can make the final choices. The final choices will be made by the Costume Dept. Please respect that we have the overview of the day and the show, and do not complain about what we ask you to wear. Solid colors, wide stripes, plaids, and large scale prints are great! Some color is good, as long as it isn't neon. Please do not include items with narrow stripes, neons, glitter, sequins, uncomfortable shoes, and clothing with large logos & graphics/ trademarked characters (giant Nike symbols, Star Wars tees, etc). Do not bring any graphics that reference Charleston or South Carolina. Please avoid solid bright white items. On this particular show, simple logos are okay as long as it is mainly wording/ lettering/ phrases (not large pieces of artwork).
- It is MANDATORY that you read this blog before coming to work EVERY TIME YOU WORK.

DEPUTIES
Please bring a white short-sleeve crewneck t-shirt, black crew socks and black tactical boots if you have them. The rest of your uniform will be provided for you.
FERRY RIDERS W/ CARS
Please bring casual summer outfit options, including swimsuits, tanks, t-shirts, blouses, short and long sleeve button-up layers, sun shirts, shorts, pants, rompers and dresses. Please also bring comfortable summer shoe options, like sandals or sneakers. Feel free to bring accessories that can complete a look, such as sunglasses, hats, jewelry and bags/purses. You will be reused for rain scenes later in the day, so please bring an additional option that matches the CROWD AT FERRY board below, including a raincoat and rainboots. IF YOU HAVE ALREADY WORKED THE HURRICANE EVACUATION SCENES THIS SEASON, PLEASE BRING EXACTLY WHAT YOU WORE PREVIOUSLY.
Please bring items you would wear to evacuate during a summer storm: t-shirt, tanks, long-sleeve shirt, casual button-up shirts, track pants/joggers, legging, athleisure, rainboots/other waterproof work boots, and a raincoat or a poncho. Keep in mind that while filming your clothing will be getting wet, so feel free to also bring clothing for comfort or warmth. Please also bring a personal towel and extra socks if you will need them. KOOKS
IF YOU HAVE ALREADY WORKED THE HURRICANE EVACUATION SCENES THIS SEASON, PLEASE BRING EXACTLY WHAT YOU WORE PREVIOUSLY.
Please bring items that match the description given to the CROWD AT FERRY BG listed above. However, please stick to bring colors and patterns if you have them. Think pastels and preppy patterns, like stripes, polka dots and gingham. Remember, in the scene you are evacuating because of a storm, so please bring any items you will need for personal comfort, like extra socks, a towel and an extra change of clothes to travel home in.
IF YOU ARE WORKING EVAC SCENES, YOU WILL BE GETTING WET - DO NOT BRING CLOTHES/SHOES THAT YOU DON'T WANT TO GET WET. IF YOU DO NOT ALREADY OWN A PAIR OF RAINBOOTS, YOU MAY WANT TO CONSIDER BUYING SOME - WE HAVE A VERY LIMITED AMOUNT OF STOCK TO DISTRIBUTE.
