1/25/2021--EXT. SHIPYARD

Welcome back to OBX SEASON 2---Shooting MONDAY, JAN. 25TH!  If you are new with OBX, this blog is where you will find out important information on what kind of costumes you should bring as a Background Actor on the show.

Just a couple of housekeeping items to begin with......

-Please, be on time.  You will be checked in by the AD Department and fill out paperwork before we can look at you.  If you are late then the Costume Department does not get as much time to make sure you look great.

-Always come dressed in your first, best choice of the descriptions for your character.   After reading the character descriptions that you will find here, make your best pick and wear it in.  However, you will ALWAYS be expected to bring multiple options with you so that we can make the final choices.  The final choices will be made by the Costume Dept.  Please respect that we have the overview of the day and the show, and do not complain about what we ask you to wear. Solid colors, wide stripes, plaids, and large scale prints are great! Some color is good, as long as it isnt super bright or neon. Please do not include items with narrow stripes, busy patterns, neons, glitter, sequins, expensive or special jewelry, uncomfortable shoes, and clothing with large logos & graphics/ trademarked characters (giant nike symbols, star wars tees, etc). On this particular show, simple logos are okay as long as it is mainly wording/ lettering/ phrases (not large pieces of artwork).

- It is MANDATORY that you read this blog before coming to work EVERY TIME YOU WORK.

DOCK WORKERS/DRIVERS/CRANE OP:

These are hardworking longshoremen who labor on the industrial docks loading and unloading big cargo ships.  You really can't be too greasy/dirty/sweaty!  Think heavy-duty workwear - Carharrt, Dickies, Red Kap, Wrangler - mixed with grubby t-shirts, old jeans and cargo pants, flannels, sweatshirts, and boots.  Hats are good, as are hardhats and safety vests. Stains, holes, paint splatters, and dirt are highly encouraged!  If you don't have anything already stained and dirty, we'd really appreciate you bringing clothes we can add some "movie dirt" to for an authentic look.  Avoid shorts and bring a layer if you wear a tank top!  As always, stay away from large logos or graphics.

CV CREW:

This group is a collection of workers from international ports, all working on a container ship sailing to tropical ports.  Worn-in, dirty, greasy, and mismatched.  The hope is to look a little non-American, and different from our Dock Workers, so a little more colorful and off-beat is good.  Clothes that can and have been worked in - cargo pants, bucket hats, tees - but you can also mix in lighter weight button-down shirts, shorts, some really torn up polos.  Holes, stains, grease spots, and paint splatters are all great.  You've been on this ship a long time and you are not dressing to impress!  If you don't have anything already stained and dirty, we'd really appreciate you bringing clothes we can add some "movie dirt" to for an authentic look. As always, stay away from large logos or graphics, but patterns are excellent!

GUARDS:

We will supply the uniform... just bring black socks if you have them.

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR BRINGING GREAT OPTIONS!
