Welcome back to OBX SEASON 5---Shooting Monday, June 16, 2025!! If you are new with OBX, this blog is where you will find out important information on what kind of costumes you should bring as a Background Actor on the show.
Just a couple of housekeeping items to begin with......
-Please, be on time. You will be checked in by the AD Department and fill out paperwork before we can look at you. If you are late then the Costume Department does not get as much time to make sure you look great.
-Always come dressed in your first, best choice of the descriptions for your character. After reading the character descriptions that you will find here, make your best pick and wear it in. However, you will ALWAYS be expected to bring multiple options with you so that we can make the final choices. The final choices will be made by the Costume Dept. Please respect that we have the overview of the day and the show, and do not complain about what we ask you to wear. Solid colors, wide stripes, plaids, and large scale prints are great! Some color is good, as long as it isn't neon. Please do not include items with narrow stripes, neons, glitter, sequins, uncomfortable shoes, and clothing with large logos & graphics/ trademarked characters (giant Nike symbols, Star Wars tees, etc). Please avoid solid bright white items. On this particular show, simple logos are okay as long as it is mainly wording/ lettering/ phrases (not large pieces of artwork).
- It is MANDATORY that you read this blog before coming to work EVERY TIME YOU WORK.

KOOK BOYS
You are playing preppy middle school aged kids. Some brands that work well for the Kook characters are Vineyard Vines, Southern Tide, Rainbows and Sperrys. These are the most colorful characters on the show.
Please bring summer outfit options, including t-shirts, polos, casual short-sleeve button-ups, lightweight long-sleeve button ups, shorts (colorful and khaki), sandals, boat shoes and sneakers. Bring your shirt and shorts options in solid colors as well as patterns if you have them, but avoid original artwork and large logos. If you have any Rainbow flip flops, please bring them as an option. Please also bring accessories, like non-mirrored sunglasses, hats and belts.

WRECK EMPLOYEES
Please bring casual pants & shorts options, including denim and khakis as well as other solid colors. If you have shorts options in various lengths, please bring a few different options. Please bring sneakers and other casual closed-toe shoe options, but avoid bright colored shoes. An apron and uniform shirt will be provided for you. Please also bring accessories like belts and everyday jewelry.
