  Welcome back to OBX SEASON 5---Shooting Friday, July 25, 2025!! If you are new with OBX, this blog is where you will find out important information on what kind of costumes you should bring as a Background Actor on the show. 

Just a couple of housekeeping items to begin with......

-Please, be on time.  You will be checked in by the AD Department and fill out paperwork before we can look at you.  If you are late then the Costume Department does not get as much time to make sure you look great.  

-Always come dressed in your first, best choice of the descriptions for your character.   After reading the character descriptions that you will find here, make your best pick and wear it in.  However, you will ALWAYS be expected to bring multiple options with you so that we can make the final choices.  The final choices will be made by the Costume Dept.  Please respect that we have the overview of the day and the show, and do not complain about what we ask you to wear. Solid colors, wide stripes, plaids, and large scale prints are great! Some color is good, as long as it isn't neon. Please do not include items with narrow stripes, neons, glitter, sequins, uncomfortable shoes, and clothing with large logos & graphics/ trademarked characters (giant Nike symbols, Star Wars tees, etc). Do not bring any graphics that reference Charleston or South Carolina. Please avoid solid bright white items. On this particular show, simple logos are okay as long as it is mainly wording/ lettering/ phrases (not large pieces of artwork).

- It is MANDATORY that you read this blog before coming to work EVERY TIME YOU WORK.

FISHERMAN TYPES

Please bring sun shirts, button up fishing shirts, old worn out t-shirts, fishing vests if you have them, cargo shorts, swimsuits and casual work pants. Stains, rips and signs of wear are okay and encouraged! Please also bring sneakers, sandals and rubber fishing boots if you have them. Feel free to bring accessories like sunglasses, hats and neck gaiters to complete a look. Take a look at the pictures below for inspiration!

PEOPLE BUYING FISH

Please bring casual summer outfit options, avoid neon or bright colors. Items to bring include tanks, t-shirt, lightweight casual button up layers, sun shirts, fishing shirts, shorts, cargo shorts, lightweight pants and shoes like sandals or sneakers. Feel free to bring accessories that can complete a look, like sunglasses, hats and bags. Take a look at the pictures below for inspiration!

UNIFORMED COPS

Please bring a white crew neck t-shirt, black crew socks and black tactical boots if you have them. The rest of your uniform will be provided for you.

CORSAIRS

Please bring any worn-in clothing, including tanks, t-shirts, short and long sleeve button up, Henley's, flannels, jeans, cargo pants, cargo shorts. These clothes should be old and used looking. Old, distressed, stained and tattered is preferable. If you have any old work boots, please bring them! Please bring a pair of plain black socks. Accessories are good!! Bring any worn-in leather belts, handkerchiefs, scarves and gaiters. For jewelry, beaded bracelets and necklaces, shark teeth necklaces, rope bracelets.
