 Welcome back to OBX SEASON 5---Shooting Friday, September 19, 2025!! If you are new with OBX, this blog is where you will find out important information on what kind of costumes you should bring as a Background Actor on the show. 

Just a couple of housekeeping items to begin with......

-Please, be on time.  You will be checked in by the AD Department and fill out paperwork before we can look at you.  If you are late then the Costume Department does not get as much time to make sure you look great.  

-Always come dressed in your first, best choice of the descriptions for your character.   After reading the character descriptions that you will find here, make your best pick and wear it in.  However, you will ALWAYS be expected to bring multiple options with you so that we can make the final choices.  The final choices will be made by the Costume Dept.  Please respect that we have the overview of the day and the show, and do not complain about what we ask you to wear. Solid colors, wide stripes, plaids, and large scale prints are great! Some color is good, as long as it isn't neon. Please do not include items with narrow stripes, neons, glitter, sequins, uncomfortable shoes, and clothing with large logos & graphics/ trademarked characters (giant Nike symbols, Star Wars tees, etc). Do not bring any graphics that reference Charleston or South Carolina. Please avoid solid bright white items. On this particular show, simple logos are okay as long as it is mainly wording/ lettering/ phrases (not large pieces of artwork).

- It is MANDATORY that you read this blog before coming to work EVERY TIME YOU WORK.

EVAC BG

Please bring items you would wear to evacuate during a summer storm: t-shirt, tanks, long-sleeve shirt, casual button-up shirts, track pants/joggers, legging, athleisure, rainboots/other waterproof work boots, and a raincoat or a poncho. Avoid neon jackets (especially yellow) and jackets with large logos. Keep in mind that while filming your clothing will be getting wet, so feel free to also bring clothing for comfort or warmth. Please bring a personal towel and extra pairs of socks if you will need throughout the day, as well as an extra set of dry clothing to travel home in. PASSING BOATS

Please bring items like the ones listed in the EVAC BG description above. Feel free to bring more boat-specific items if you have them, like button-up fishing shirts, sun shirts, waders, safety vests or fishing boots, along with the items listed above.
